I started my life-long love of art way back in junior high school. I really owe Ms. Carol Bowen and Mr. Tom Turner a big thank you. They taught with passion to the willing,
emphasizing that it isn't the tool, it's the hand and the brain that creates. My first love? I started out as a potter. My second love is a tie between color design and faux finishing.
What else have I done? I've been a construction (house) painter. I have also painted guitars, drum kits, furniture, and clothing to name a few. I made steel and loved it. I worked my way up to quality control where I excelled at perfecting the process, which is an art.
My attention to detail is second to none.
The foundry closed and I was recruited by a major home improvement chain to sell flooring, tile, paint, and window treatments. That gave me the opportunity to talk to literally
thousands of people about the basics of color theory and interior design to help them achieve the home of their dreams within their budget.
The day a customer walked up to me and gave me a hug was the day I knew there is a market for what I know best - combining colors.
She came back to the store to let me know that the colors I had helped her pick had, "Literally changed my life!" Her living room turned out just as she had envisioned
with the advice I had given to her being the key to her success.
She inspired me to form Bad Ass Design Company and help everyone find the colors that make them happy.
